A window into who I am.

It is not lost on me how astonishing the upcoming world seems it will be. For better or worse, like you, I have recognized the potential of AI to have an incredible ability to spur long workflows that open entire worlds up to us. Then, the recognition comes forward, that not only is there something painstakingly deep missing in it, but also, that something is being stripped away. It is this realization that calls for a different type of work. To know our true values as humans, and how we keep them flourishing alongside the world that is being created. AI's offer to do everything for us makes this more difficult than ever, which is what I have chosen to focus intently on resolving.

I want to offer you a window into who I am. Not to convince you that I am remarkable, or that my experience makes me the one to show you the way. That's not what this is. But to the degree an about page can, you should know who it is you would be working with.

My life really is rich, not in gold, but in a breadth of lived experience. I say that humbly. If I were to tell the 20-year-old version of me, 15 years ago, stuck dreaming of a bigger life in simple Nebraska, that I would move through worlds most people never experience one of, and end up living in the cracked open mountains of Asheville, North Carolina, dancing, singing, philosophizing amongst a broad community, and about to finish a master's degree to become a counselor, I would be thoroughly surprised. I could go into what all of that was. The world travel. The love and connection shared with all walks of life, all while being a father to a beautiful girl. Everywhere I've gone, I find myself connected across every stratum of society, from the most well off, to the artists, creators and misfits alike.

What matters most here, is that at one point I thought these experiences were not for me. I knew people out there were having them. In my mind, I was likely limited to a few, fortunate, yet modest joys of life. All I had to do was tuck those deeper yearnings away. I grew up a bookworm, a gamer, on the computer much of the time, and immersed in fantasy worlds of all kinds. I know the pull of ease, of escape, of retreating away from our heart's true longing because it's uncomfortable and the relief of the worlds we create through tech feels safe, and in some ways expansive. In many respects, they are, but it's not complete, and never will be. You already know this.

Something in me cracked open in those early years and I began to see the subtle mechanics that either keep a person contained or allow them to edge into the fuller life that is quietly calling them. I saw that learning to work with that subtlety, to feel it, to move with it, is what determines how much of this life a person can actually reach. Unpacking those mechanics takes years. I have been immersed in them ever since. The step toward your most expansive and balanced life is both deeply complex and astonishingly simple. My work is sharing what I've learned to help you reestablish a connection to what has always been yours.

I am not outside any of this. I'm a father raising a daughter in a world whose shape is changing dramatically. That same pull toward ease still reaches for me, to shell up and lean on a technology that will do everything for me. The conditions she will grow up in are unlike anything I was handed. The work I do with people is work I am also doing. What I am pointing toward is what I intend to keep alive in the world my daughter is growing up in.

I can't wait to see what you can do.
